Our Stories: The Cimpoier Family
Gilucu (left), Raul (center), and Nicoleta (right)
There are children we've seen growing up right before our eyes… children who came to our camps for the first time timid, shy, not knowing how to write, unaware of many of the simple things other children consider normal.
The Cimpoier family from Daneș has 6 children — 2 girls and 4 boys. Maria and Vasile grew up with us. We remember them when they were little, when we taught them to write their names, recognize the alphabet, and gain the courage to speak. They came to our camps year after year, got involved, helped, and stayed close to the community.
Today, the youngest siblings come — twins Nicoleta and Gilucu (the boy in the green jacket), along with their youngest brother, Raul (in the middle). They are obedient, sensitive children, very eager to help. They ask for nothing… just love, attention, and a place where they feel welcome.
Last year, at camp, something happened that we will never forget. During praise and worship, Gilucu started to cry. He said through tears that he truly wanted to know God. From that moment, his life changed. He asked for a Bible and reads it patiently.
When Gilucu received a toothbrush and toothpaste for the first time, he was fascinated. He would always run to brush his teeth. He loved being clean, neat, taking a daily shower, and receiving clean clothes. He was so happy for such small things… At home, there are days when, apart from bread, they have almost nothing else.
Maybe for some, a donation means little. For these children, it means a warm meal, a pair of clean clothes, a Bible, a bed where they can sleep peacefully, and perhaps… the beginning of a life changed forever. Please be part of their story. 🤍

Providing Hope for a Better Tomorrow to Disadvantaged Communities in Transylvania
Since 2012, the “Hope for the Disadvantaged” program has been a humanitarian initiative dedicated to reducing poverty, illiteracy, and unemployment among the disadvantaged communities in Transylvania, Romania. As the largest ethnic minority group in Romania, the disadvantaged population faces significant challenges related to basic needs, education, and social exclusion.
Operating in Mures and Sibiu Counties, the program focuses on increasing access to education and preventing school dropout among disadvantaged children aged 3-12 in Transylvanian villages. The long-term goal is to support the social inclusion of these communities. The program has completed building and furnishing childhood education centers with afterschool programs in Daneș, Archita, and Șaeș, and a social canteen in Daneș. Here, we provide a daily hot meal to disadvantaged children in Daneș, addressing the issue of food insecurity and malnutrition.
In addition, the program provides mediation and afterschool programs on a daily basis in seven different villages, with an emphasis on disadvantaged communities, facilitating access to education and preventing school dropout. The program also provides school supplies every September to over 300 children in the seven villages coming from poor or disadvantaged families.
To enhance pupils’ social and emotional development, the “Hope for the Disadvantaged” program includes personal development activities such as educational training, school trips, and team-building exercises.
The “Hope for the Disadvantaged” program plays a vital role in the social inclusion of disadvantaged people in the Sighisoara area, contributing to the overall development of the region. By providing access to education and support to break the cycle of illiteracy, poverty, and unemployment, the program aims to empower disadvantaged communities. With the program’s continued efforts, the disadvantaged people in Transylvania can have hope for a better tomorrow.
